Lennox XC21 Air Conditioner-
HVAC company Lennox Industries Inc.(LII) introduced what it claims is the world’s first residential air-conditioner rated at more than 20 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating). Rated at up to 20.5 SEER, Lennox says its new XC21 is the industry’s quietest and most efficient central air-conditioner on the market.
Part of Lennox’s Dave Lennox Signature(TM) Collection, the XC21 features a new cabinet design, including SmartHinge(TM) louvered panels. Inside, the air-conditioner uses a two-stage scroll compressor with two levels of operation: high for hotter summer days and low for milder days. The two operating levels are said to allow for more energy-efficient operation because the low setting is adequate to meet household cooling demands up to 80 percent of the time. A high-efficiency outdoor coil is said to provide exceptional heat transfer and low air resistance for more efficient operation.
As an Energy Star product, the XC21 meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) energy usage standards. It also uses chlorine-free R410A refrigerant, which meets the EPA’s most stringent environmental guidelines.
Other features include Lennox’s SilentComfort(TM) technology, as well as a patent-pending fan design, compressor with new vibration insulators, a new sound-dampening fan grill, and a Hushtone(R) cabinet. The unit is reportedly 13 times quieter than a standard air-conditioner.
The appliance also features the Lennox System Operations Monitor, which reviews system performance and can communicate with select thermostats with a “call for service” indicator.
Cool Your Home With Highly Efficient Air Conditioners
A traditional Air Conditioning system has two parts: an indoor unit, such as a furnace or air handler, and an outdoor unit. The outdoor condenser unit releases the heat the refrigerant picks up inside the home. Indoor and outdoor units are designed to work together.
When the air conditioner is properly matched with a furnace or air handler, you get maximum efficiency and longer system life. Air conditioning and cooling efficiency is measured using a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). A higher SEER rating means higher energy efficiency.
Increased efficiency may substantially lower your home cooling costs.
Variable speed blower motor equipment allows for extremely quiet operation as well as dehumidification capability.
There’s more to these air conditioners and heat pumps from the Dave Lennox Signature? Collection than their industry-leading efficiency and quiet, comfort-assured performance. These models come Solar Ready, which means they can serve as the platform for Lennox’ new SunSource? Home Energy System if, and when, you’re ready to “go solar.”
The new SunSource Home Energy System from Lennox Industries harnesses solar power to reduce the energy used by a residential heat pump or air conditioner, and operate other devices in the home, like lighting and electrical appliances, when the heating and cooling system is not being used.
